Completed in 1922, Bansuiso has a history as a place of hospitality and social gatherings; this exhibition places contemporary expression within that architectural setting. Exhibition-period admission is ¥700 for adults and ¥400 for elementary, junior-high and high-school students; preschool children enter free. Adult groups of 20 or more and disability-certificate holders pay ¥560. One caregiver accompanying a certificate holder pays ¥700 during this exhibition; bring proof for concessions. These are the exhibition-period rates, which replace the venue’s ordinary admission prices. Pay by cash or PayPay. Separately staged first-floor exhibitions or concerts may charge their own admission.

Access

Bansuiso is at 3-3-7 Ichibancho, about a five-minute walk from Okaido on the Iyotetsu city tram. The venue has space for about 20 cars, available only when vacant; parking availability depends on when you arrive. Public transport is the more dependable approach when planning around a fixed afternoon departure.

Rain

The artworks are inside the villa, while the walk from Okaido and any castle-area stroll are outdoors. On a wet day, give the building and exhibition priority within the 09:00–18:00 opening window.

Crowds

The venue’s opening calendar can include exceptions to its usual Monday closure. Check the date you intend to visit, especially around holidays; the ordinary rule is to open on a Monday that is a public holiday. No timed-entry arrangement or live capacity information is published in the exhibition notice.

Nearby spots

Bansuiso stands at the foot of Matsuyama Castle’s hill. Pairing the villa with the castle area lets you compare a twentieth-century residence with the city’s older landmark; castle visits have separate opening times and admission arrangements.

Start with the villa’s architectural setting, then compare the artists’ materials and approaches across the exhibition. Keep the castle-area walk flexible around the weather, and allow time for the walk back to Okaido. The two film-panel displays should not form part of this visit’s plan.
