Shikoku Big Band Jazz Festival

The changing bands give this afternoon its shape. Tokushima Junior Jazz Orchestra opens at 12:00, followed by Kochi’s Fake Jazz Orchestra at 12:35 and Kagawa’s SKG Jazz Orchestra at 13:10. Tokushima Latin Farm takes over at 13:45, Ehime’s CRASH Jazz Orchestra at 14:20 and Tokushima’s The Sunnyside Jazz Orchestra at 14:55. The finale begins at 15:30, before the event ends at 16:00. Listening across several sets lets you compare younger players, the fuller sound of a jazz orchestra and the Latin programme within one venue. This is a live performing-arts event at the park’s outdoor theatre; the nearby museum buildings are separate places to visit. Access

The venue is Sudachi-kun Mori Theatre at the Tokushima Prefectural 21st Century Hall, in Bunka-no-Mori, Hachiman-cho Mukoterayama. From JR Tokushima Station, the direct Bunka-no-Mori bus leaves from stand 3 and takes about 20 minutes to the Bunka-no-Mori terminus. Other routes have different journey times. JR Bunka-no-Mori Station is not the theatre entrance. The hall describes an onward bus from Bunka-no-Mori Station East taking about seven minutes; that is a bus journey, not a seven-minute walk. Choose your Sunday outbound and return services before travelling.

Rain

This is an outdoor performance. The current event notice does not give a definite rain rule, so check the hall’s latest event and weather announcements before setting out; do not assume that rain either leaves the programme unchanged or automatically cancels it.
